It is a colorless, volatile liquid with a moderately sweet aroma. It is widely used as a solvent, the general view being that it is one of the less harmful of the chlorocarbons, and it is miscible with most organic solvents. Dichloromethane has a significant solubility in High Density Polyethylene at 25 degrees Celsius and 1 atmosphere system pressure: 6 volume%. This solubility is below the available free volume in HDPE, hence we may assume that the diffusion coefficient is constant. The diffusivity in the conditions stated is: The stationary migration / permeation rate is: On Dioctyl Phthalate there is currently no experimental information avalaible, please contact composite agency for experimental measurement regarding the diffusion, chemical resistance and mechanical behaviour / physical properties of High Density Polyethyelene.
