permeability of pipeline linings/coatings to carbon dioxide

Posting by david o'reilly on May 02, 2008 at 21:40:17.

Hello,

I am looking for data on the Permeability of Pipeline Coatings to carbon dioxide and its measurement approaches and was wondering if someone on this forum be able to help me. It there a good reference on carbon dioxide diffusion in polymers? Thanks

David

Is there a simple analytical solution for carbon dioxide lag time and permeation for a 2 or 3 layer material (in case of an outside pipe coating)? Furthemore, we have access to GC and High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) can this equipment be useful for ASTM D1434 permeation validation measurements?
    Thanks,

Since in some parts of the world, H2S content of oil reservoir fluid is rather high. Is H2S a problem for polymer cover seals, spoolables and insulation from the viewpoint of corrosion and diffusion rate/coefficient. What is the time lag of H2S in a PTFE O-ring of 5 mm cross sectional diameter or a internal polyethylene liner / coating of 2.9 mm?
